Screw iTunes, I’m going with Amazon Mp3!
As many of you know I am quite the apple inc. aficionado. I love everything apple. I own an apple computer, an iPhone; and so does my wife. Also, I have successfully converted many of my family and friends (6 people in all) from the dull PC to the exciting apple computer (thanks to apple’s slick, cool, and clever advertising it wasn’t that hard).
Since purchasing my first iPod in 2003, I have spent $1000’s of dollars on iTunes, NO LIE! Sometimes I think it would have been cheaper for me to have an addiction to crack. Anyway, I have purchased individual songs, albums, videos, TV shows, etc… If iTunes offered it, I bought it. But the day has come and another digital music store has grabbed my attention, and it looks like Amazon Mp3 will have my sole attention.
This store has everything I am looking for in a digital music store (sorry eMusic, your just to obscure for me). For Amazon Mp3, instead of trying to duplicate iTunes for the PC market like so many have before (zune, mtv, napster, rhapsody, and countless others), it has taken its cue from the little known DMS eMusic. eMusic for years has sold DRM-free mp3’s for as little as 25 cents a song, and now Amazon Mp3 is selling all DRM-free mp3’s for 23%-31% less than iTunes. Also Amazon Mp3 has convinced most labels to sell total albums for as low as $4.99-$8.99. Beat that Steve Jobs! Your wondering why Amazon Mp3 and not eMusic, well as I mentioned before eMusic is just to obscure for my musical taste.
So in short, unless iTunes can begin to compete with the prices Amazon is offering, I’m going with Amazon Mp3! Who’s with me!!!
